Wayne first teased Funeral during a November 2016 interview, it’s been in the works for some time now. However, he knew he had to drop something in honor of Kobe.
Lil Wayne pays homage to Kobe Bryant on his new album that he dropped just this past Friday early morning (2am-ish) I was one of the first to get the alerts and listen. I was like oh snap, it’s #listeningParty time
My Top #3 Fave Tracks on FUNERAL SO FAR ARE THE FOLLOWING: PUSH PLAY TOO 🙂 I created 3 tops with edited best bars dropped in my opinion:
Wayne also added in 24 seconds of silence on track #8 called “Bing James” to show love to the Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant.
Lil Weezy spent years working on the album “Funeral” — but when he learned about Kobe’s death on Sunday, he connected with Young Money President, Mack Maine, and they agreed to make last-second changes to honor Bryant.
The final decision was to lay in a moment of silence for Kobe at the end of the 8th song on the album, titled “Bing James” — 24 seconds in total. Obviously, the numbers refer to Kobe’s Lakers jersey numbers, #8 and #24.
Play the track and listen to it below along with the entire album, I’ll share my faves too.

[Verse 1: Lil Wayne]
I drop a four in this, I’m feelin’ glorious
Gun on Big Pun, and my clip on Notorious
Bitch, I’m the man, no, the Mandalorian
I’m in a DeLorean, nigga, I’m floorin’ it
I can’t smoke Reggie, I be too edgy
My bitch a veggie, bitch, I’m a legend
Pull out my flag, and these niggas start pledgin’
Go pull up whenever, we ain’t gotta schedule it
Boy, I’m a president, presidential Rollie
Bezel it heavily, inspect it carefully
I’m smokin’ like I’m in the Netherlands
Like I’m a hippie that’s stuck in the 70s
You with your buddies, I’m with my bloodies
And this ain’t no flag, lil’ nigga, this rugby
O.T. Genisis BARS = Lyrics:

Walk in your room like a groupie (Yeah)
Wet your ass up with jacuzzi (Bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah)
Everything white, I got Bieber
Cover one eye like I’m Aaliyah

Wayne appeared on FS1’s Undisputed on Friday morning and credited the producers who worked on the album for being nimble enough to change up the album just HOURS before it was released … truly an impressive feat.
Wayne is a huge basketball fan who LOVES the Lakers — and has been a public Kobe supporter for years. In fact, he dropped a song called “Kobe Bryant” years ago.
Wayne also shouts out “Black Mamba” in the chorus of another song on the new album — a song called “Ball Hard.”
Wayne’s “Funeral” album happens to have 24 tracks — but he told Skip Bayless that was just a coincidence.
Wayne explains how the idea for the 24 seconds of silence happened.
“That right there, I have to thank my big brother Mack. You know that was an idea he called me with right then and there. A day later, he called me with this idea he thought of and of course I confirmed it, I agreed with it,” Lil Wayne explained. In an interview on Apple Music’s Beats 1, Lil Wayne spoke further about the loss of the basketball legend, “Everybody know, obviously very terrible day for sports. But as far as me and with my concern and my thoughts and prayers was just for the family of Mr. Bryant and the family of the others’ lives that were lost from the tragedy, and the situation, the accident,” he explained. “I have kids, man. I have four kids. And I have a beautiful daughter, and I cannot imagine. And I’ve been trying not to imagine. Again, thoughts and prayers to the families.”
Along with the 24-second silence, Lil Wayne also shouts out “Black Mamba” in the chorus of another song on the new album — a song called “Ball Hard.” In addition to these tributes on the rapper’s 13th studio album.
Wayne also took to Instagram on Jan. 27 to share a photo of him fist-bumping the basketball legend with the caption, “Forever love. 824”. A sweet tribute from the rapper who is a longtime basketball fan.

RANDOMNESS – LIL WAYNE WAS ON TONIGHTS/OR LAST NIGHTS MASKED SINGER
It wouldn’t be long until everyone found out who was under the mechanical getup because the audience voted Robot as their least favorite performance of the night. Then it came time for the first unmasking of the season, which proved Scherzinger’s theory right when Lil Wayne was revealed under the Robot mask. The studio audience and panelists alike were in shock.
He was literally the Robot Below, and the ish was funny as ever.

Since R&B has been put on the back burner (so it seems) with respect to the charting dominance for Rhythm & Blues. Only, until recently a new Queen by the name of “Jai Emm” has magically arrived on the genre-block. To many, Jai Emm is a force to be reckoned with and breath of fresh air. Especially as an emerging, new Artist on the rise, but she is receiving serious praise with nods, by the R&B industries Gods of Soul.
